    SOURCES AND ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS

This volume of Services and Prayers, covering the season from All Saints' Day to the Presentation of Christ in the Temple, is published with the agreement of the House of Bishops of the General Synod.

The Services and Prayers have been commended by the House of Bishops with the exceptions indicated in this note. Under Canon B4 it is open to each Bishop to authorize forms of service to be used within his diocese and he may specify that the services should be those commended by the House. If the Bishop gives no directions in this matter a priest remains free, subject to the terms of Canon B5, to make use of the Services as commended by the House.

The Service for Remembrance Sunday printed on pp.84--90 has been authorized since 1984 by the Archbishops of Canterbury and York under Canon B4 for use in their respective Provinces.

The Prefatory Note to the Appendix (p.369) explains the status of the Calendar and Lectionaries set out there.
