oremus is a form of daily Christian prayer published on the Internet by Steve Benner and Simon Kershaw at the www.oremus.org web site and each day on this oremus email list.
This is not a discussion list and only mail from the compilers of oremus is posted here. This will nearly always mean there is exactly one message a day. Very occasionally, such as for the Easter Vigil or on Christmas Eve, there will be more than one post.
oremus is usually posted automatically from the www.oremus.org website to this list at 9am (US Pacific time) the day before it is to be used. This should ensure that it reaches all parts of the world at a reasonable time.
The aim of oremus is to make available a form of the 'Daily Office', traditional in format, sufficiently brief and relevant to be used by as many readers as possible, and not duplicating any other form likely to be already used by subscribers.
oremus serves to nourish each of us in our daily prayer and bible reading; to introduce more people to the tradition of the Daily Office; to strengthen the sense of community of the group by the knowledge that our fellow members are using the same form of prayer, and by our prayers for one another; to strengthen our Anglican identity in our prayers for the Anglican Communion; and to greaten our Christian love in our prayers for our fellow Christians and for all people.
