This hymnal was produced by the Anglican Church of Canada and the United Church of Canada
during the late 1960's when the two churches were involved in merger talks which eventually
were not passed. This hymnal was approved for use in both churches in 1971, although it has been
reported that it met with little acceptance in the Anglican Church. This hymnal is one of three still
in common use in Canada, the others being the 1938
and the 1998 hymnals.
