God, who granted faith and vision

Hymn for a church anniversary

God, who granted faith and vision
once to those who loved this place,
keep us true to their tradition,
channels of your truth and grace.
We who stand where generations
of your people stood to pray,
praise you for their dedication,
join our voice with theirs today.

God, whose Spirit moves among us
now to bind us into one,
help us be for those around us
blood and body of your Son
daily dying, daily rising,
living by your life alone,
celebration of your presence
in the world you call your own.

God, whose light shines out before us
through the ages still to be,
call the yet unborn, and draw them
into this community.
As we pass to them the story
of your love in action here,
may the praises of your glory
ring more loudly every year.
