This hymnal was produced by the Uniting Church in Australia (made up of Congregational,
Methodist and Presbyterian churches) and the Anglican Church of Australia. In 1974, Roman
Catholic representatives were added to the committee. This book was published in two editions,
one with and one without the Catholic supplement. This book was also published under the title
With One Voice in Great Britain, Ireland and New Zealand and met with some success in
those markets. A new edition was
released in 1999.

It passeth knowledge, that dear love of thine
I will sing the wondrous story
One who is all unfit to count
O Son of Man, our hero strong and tender
A man there lived in Galilee
Jesus, good above all other
Jesus' hands were kind hands
Christ is the world's true Light
All praise to thee, for thou, O King divine

I danced in the morning
Son of the Father, Jesus, Lord and slave
Jesus, the Lord sad, "I am the bread"
Let all be one in mind and heart

Wake, awake, for night is flying
O sing a new song to the Lord
Hark the glad sound! the Savior comes
The advent of our God
On Jordan's bank the Baptist's cry
Come, thou long-expected Jesus
Lo, he comes with clouds descending
The people that in darkness walked
Hail to the Lord's Anointed
He who by a mother's love
Mine eyes have seen the glory
Thou didst leave thy throne and thy kingly crown
There's a light upon the mountains
Lord Christ, when first thou cam'st to men
Why this tumult among the nations?
My soul glorifies the Lord
Come, O Jesus, come, O Lord
The King of glory comes, the nation rejoices

When God Almighty came to be one of us
IV. Jesus Christ: his Incarnation
Of the Father's love begotten
Earth has many a noble city
From east to west, from shore to shore
Unto us a boy is born
From heaven above to earth I come
How bright appears the Morning Star
The first Nowell the angel did say
The angel Gabriel from heaven came
While shepherds watched their flocks by night
Joy to the world! The Lord is come
Infant holy, Infant lowly
God from on high hath heard
Hark, the herald angels sing
O come, all ye faithful
Let earth and heaven combine
To us a Child of royal birth
Christians, awake! salute the happy morn
The Virgin Mary had a baby boy
God rest you merry, gentlemen
Brightest and best of the sons of the morning
Angels, from the realms of glory
Silent night! Holy night!
Once in royal David's city
Good Christian men, rejoice
As with gladness men of old
O little town of Bethlehem
Child in the manger
Away in a manger, no crib for a bed
Love came down at Christmas
The Maker of the sun and moon
Coldly the night winds winging
The north wind is tossing the leaves
Our God put off his glory
Lord, bid your servant go in peace
V. Jesus Christ: his Passion and Cross
Sing, my tongue, the glorious battle
All glory, laud, and honor
The royal banners forward go
Alone thou goest forth, O Lord
The moon shines bright, and the stars give a light
Ah, holy Jesus, how hast thou offended
? O sacred head, surrounded
Before the cock crew twice
My song is love unknown
When I survey the wondrous Cross
Nature with open volume stands
God of unexampled grace
Were you there when they crucified my Lord?
We sing the praise of him who died
Glory be to Jesus
Ride on, ride on in majesty
In the Cross of Christ I glory
There is a green hill far away
O come and mourn with me awhile
Jesus, meek and lowly
And didst thou love the race that loved not thee
When my love to Christ grows weak
Lift high the cross, the love of Christ proclaim
The glory of our King was seen
O Jesus crucified, for us you suffered
Man more than man
See, Christ was wounded for our sake
VI. Jesus Christ: his Resurrection and Ascension
Light's glittering morn bedecks the sky

O sons and daughters, let us sing
Christ the Lord is risen again
Christ Jesus lay in death's strong bands
Now glad of heart be every one
Most glorious Lord of life, that on this day
Ye gates, lift up your heads on high
The strife is o'er, the battle done
Blest morning, whose young dawning rays
This is the day the Lord hath made
Christ the Lord is risen today
Hail the day that sees him rise
Our Lord is risen from the dead
God is gone up on high

The Lord is risen indeed
The head that once was crowned with thorns
This joyful Eastertide
Thine be the glory, risen, conquering Son
Very early in the morning
Now is eternal life
By your kingly power, O risen Lord
